Content Curation Handbook
So many people have asked me about curated content, I wrote a book about it.
During its four-day April 2012 launch promotion, The Content Curation Handbook quickly soared to become Amazon’s #1 most popular free Kindle book in the three categories of Business Sales & Marketing, Marketing, and Direct Marketing. And, on its initial release, it reached the top 10 list of all books about blogs & blogging.
Even after the freebie launch, The Content Curation Handbook became the #1 best-selling Kindle book in Direct Marketing, and Amazon’s #1 recommendation as the top “hot new release” in Direct Marketing.
And, it remained in the top 10 for a full month.
If you’re interested in how I created curated content for my websites, this book explains it, step by step.
In this book, you’ll learn how to collect great third-party content, and how to filter and evaluate it. After that, I’ll explain the best ways to prepare your curated content, how to avoid copyright issues, and I’ll describe the many kinds of content you can share with your readers.
The result is: You can become the go-to resource for news and ideas in your niche.
This isn’t a “get rich while you sleep” book. It’s a thorough approach to long-term online success using unique and third-party content that you can find, free, on the Internet.

Hi – I love your site. I just came across this post about your curated content book. Being fairly new to this concept I was hoping you could answer just a couple of questions (I appologize if they are simplistic) #1 – Is curating content just combining content from various sources and re-publishing it with a link back to the source ? OR, is does it also involve re-writing that content ? #2 – How does google look at curated content on your blog ? That is, can it rank well in google search engine ?
Thanks
Hi, Mike!
Good questions! In fact, they’re so good, I wrote an entire article to answer them more clearly: Curated Content and SEO.
Cheerfully,
